2 Day Course - Ground training

You can either bring your own horse or work with ours. Not only will you learn how to do rope work and how to long-line but also how to move your horse laterally using your bridle from the ground....................this will teach four directional control enabling you to have a more responsive and supple horse. Being able to control each foot leg/foot independently will help you to counteract any evasions that are thrown your way. You will also teach your horse how to be comfortable standing in his own space, which is great discipline for road work, shows and general day to day management.

These skills can be taught to most horses regardless of age and type and whether they are backed or not, in fact these exercises are brilliant for pre-backing work.

Skills you will learn

- Rope circling
- Long-lining
- In-hand lateral work

If your horse is un-backed and you want to introduce the saddle then let Sam know and we can include that into the 2 days. I also encourage everyone to swap horses so that you learn different responses and how to respond to them. If you are borrowing a horse then you will work with all of my school masters, they will teach you a lot, if you don't ask correctly they won't do it.

There is also the option if you want to work with your own horse to cover de-spooking, which works well with the groundwork covered

Ps. If you have a ridden horse and you would like to have a lesson whilst on the course we can also arrange that

3 days course - Ground training and ridden including flatwork and jumping

You will need your own horse for this course.

Each morning will be a group session covering all of the above, then in the afternoons you will be put into groups of two and have either a flatwork lesson incorporating all that you have learnt on the ground into your ridden work or a jumping lesson. The last afternoon will be a lesson of your choice to go over anything that you feel will be of more benefit to you.

My aim for these course is to give you as much hands on knowledge so that you can go home and continue.......to do this I keep the groups small, a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6. To do this means that they are slightly more expensive than some courses that are available...................but I assure you one to one time, all questions answered and a course that will develop and take shape around your needs. No two courses have ever been the same.

Cost

With horse...

All courses are £200 per day to include stable, bedding and 2 hay-nets of haylage a day, and of course lunch, tea, coffee, biscuits and bottled water. Also use of horses if you are borrowing
